Paws for Reading

Did you know that the Delaware County District Library has therapy dogs regularly visiting our branches to help children learn to read?  Studies have shown that children who may be experiencing some difficulty reading, especially reading aloud, are much more comfortable reading to a dog, who will listen patiently and non-judgmentally.

“Paws for Reading” is available at the Powell, Ostrander, and Delaware Branches on several Saturday mornings during December, January and February.  Check the Library’s quarterly newsletter, Check It Out! for details.

Children must be registered to participate.  To sign your child up, contact the Library branch that works best for you.
