Many great programs to choose from this week

Summer-Reading-Club-2013-SlideI hope you and your family are signed up for the Delaware County District Library’s Summer Reading Program, “Dig Into Reading!”  Reading with your kids over the summer is the best way to keep their reading skills sharp, and to prevent them from falling behind over the next few weeks.

To make reading even more fun, bring your kids to these great programs at the Library this week:

Gator Dave –June 25 at the Orange Branch at 6:30 p.m.  Gator Dave will bring a variety of animals he has rescued, possibly including snakes, alligators, tarantulas, owls, cockroaches, hedgehogs and more.  He has over 15 years of experience working with zoos and educating children.

Ohio Nature Education–June 25 at the Delaware Branch at 7:00 p.m. Ohio Nature Education programs include live animals and collections of study skins, nests and other natural materials to get audiences excited about nature! Get ready for an interactive program that will have you on the edge of your seats.

Mini-Golf in the Library–June 26 at the Ostrander Branch at 1:00 p.m.  For kids 9-11.  Practice your mini-golfing skills as we “putter” around a unique Library course.  And at 4:00 p.m. for teens.

History to Go–June 26 at the Delaware Branch at 2:00 p.m. For kids 9-11.  Ohio history comes to life with History to Go! Ohio Historical Society staff and volunteers will bring hands-on reproduction items, education collections, and props, literally bringing the museum exhibits to us at the Library!

Preservations Parks–June 27 at the Ostrander Branch 1:00 p.m.  For kids 6-8.  Join our friends from Preservation Parks of Delaware County as we get to know some local wildlife.

The Turtle Lady–June 27 at the Powell Branch at 4:30 p.m.  Laugh and learn with the Turtle Lady (Nancy Lockard) as she shares her passion for turtles. Participants will get plenty of touching time with more than 20 turtles, bearded dragons, corn snakes and an amphibian or two.

Ohio Machine Lacrosse–June 27 at the Orange Branch at 6:30 p.m.  Come meet players from Central Ohio’s one-and-only professional lacrosse team, The Ohio Machine! The players will give you hands-on tips for what the equipment does, how to play, and they’ll pose for pictures and autographs with the whole family.

And the Adult Book Discussion groups meet this week, too, along with the Cook Book Club.

See all of the Library’s programs offered this summer in “Check It Out!” our quarterly newsletter, or on our web site on the “Event’s” page.
