You know the expression that you have to break some eggs to make an omelet. Well, we’re breaking eggs at the Library to improve the function and look of the Main Branch.
The egg breaking will be going on for a few weeks, and when you visit, you may occasionally find there are parts of the collection inaccessible to customers. For example, we will be closing the computer room on Thursday and Friday, November 21 & 22, to move some shelves, reposition the computers, and change some technology. You might want to consider visiting the Powell, Ostrander or Orange Branch to use their Internet computers, though.
I apologize for any inconvenience these renovations may cause, but I think you will be delighted with the finished product.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for when you visit the Library, please ask one of the staff members. We’ll be happy to help you!

Please join us at an open house on Saturday, November 16 from 2:00-4:00 at the Delaware County District Library’s Ostrander Branch, to see the renovations and improvements recently made. As part of our campaign promises, we pledged to update the Library’s facilities, making them more functional and contemporary. We began fulfilling this pledge with the opening of the Orange Branch in 2011, continuing the updates earlier in 2013 with the extensive renovations at the Powell Branch. The renovations at the Ostrander Branch were completed earlier this month, and the Delaware (Main) Library will begin its renovation project next month.
The renovations at Ostrander reorganized the flow of the branch, to make Library materials more accessible. We also moved the Internet computers to make them easier to use, and created a business center as well. New carpet and paint add a vibrant and contemporary feel to the branch. I think you will be delightfully surprised with the changes.
The Open House at Ostrander will feature self guided tours and refreshments.
Hope to see you there!

After the closing of several coffee shops at the Delaware Main Library, we decided it was time to repurpose this room, making it a vending room with a coffee shop feel. We have installed machines that sell pop, snacks and coffee (in several varieties including lattes, cappuccinos, flavored, and hot chocolate) along with tables and chairs so you can relax and enjoy a tasty treat. Over the next few weeks, we will be adding more tables and chairs, a public bulletin board, and other amenities to add to the coffee shop ambiance. There is also free wi-fi in the vending room.
We hope you find this space ideal for socializing, meetings, and other informal gatherings. And if you think of anything that we should include in it, please let me know.
