Mary Jane Santos,
The Delaware County District Library is hosting two interestingly different programs in the next few days, and I cordially invite you to attend.
On Saturday, October 4 at 10:00 at the Delaware Main library. Lynette Rice, author of CleverlySimple.com, will cover a variety of topics including realistic couponing, strategic grocery shopping, and practical meal planning. Come ready to learn and connect with others who are excited about saving money! Click here to read about the different things participants learned in an earlier course offered at the Delaware Main Library. Pre-registration is required. Reserve your free seat at www.CleverlySimple.com/SavingsNation.
On Tuesday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m., at the Ostrander Branch, you and your family are invited to the Ironwood Wolves Family Program. Wolves are beautiful and misunderstood creatures, and the educators at Ironwood Wolves are working hard to dispel the myths. Come to the program to learn more about wolves, touch and feel wolf fur and castings, and meet a real hybrid wolf!
Just a reminder that the Delaware County District Library and its branches will be OPEN on Jug Day, Thursday, September 18th. Hope to see you in the Library!
The Delaware County District Library is delighted to be part of a very exciting event in Delaware—the Creative Strings Workshop and Festival. Founded by Ohio native and former Associate Professor at the Berklee College of Music Christian Howes, the Creative Strings Workshop and Festival offers string players from around the world an opportunity to study improvisation, composition, and styles outside the realm of classical music, while bringing Delaware a plethora of talent and musical energy.
Nearly 100 string players from around the world will be led in small ensembles in 20+ performances by world class performing artists. Violins, cellos, violas, and basses will be heard singing and wailing through bluegrass, jazz, rock, Celtic, Latin, blues, avant garde and more. The Library will be hosting four of their concerts during the week of June 30.
On July 2 at the Powell Branch, you will be entertained and awed by these talented students with a performance beginning at 7:00 p.m. Another group of students will be performing at 7:30 p.m. at the Ostrander Branch on the same evening.
The performances are free and open to the public, refreshments will be served, and the group will be selling their CD’s so you can enjoy their talents for a long time to come.
Hope to see you there!
Mary Jane Santos, Director

The Library will resume normal hours on Monday, April 21, 2014.
The Delaware County District Library regularly receives copies of ARCs (Advanced Reader Copy books) from publishers, and we want to share them with Delaware teens. Teens are encouraged to pick out a free book, talk about their favorite books, hang out with friends on Free Book Fridays.
Contact Mandy Henning at the Main Library (740-362-3861) or Becky Woodruff at the Powell Branch (614-888-9160) for more information.
